Which Law Applies to Private-Sector Jobs?

Private-sector employment in Kuwait is governed by Labour Law No. 6 of 2010. The law prohibits employers from employing foreign manpower unless the competent authority has granted a permit to work for them. In practice that means a legitimate employer must obtain a work permit for you. The exact rules on working hours, probation, leave and end-of-service benefits are set out in the law and may be amended, so read the current text (see the ILO NATLEX link below) and compare it with your contract. We do not quote figures here because summaries online differ.

Before You Accept an Offer

  • Get a written offer or contract stating your employer, job title, salary, allowances, accommodation and duration.
  • Check any Indian recruiting agent on the eMigrate portal and note the registration number, as advised by the Ministry of External Affairs.
  • Do not pay for the job itself or for a “free visa”; read how to avoid fake free-visa offers and how to check a genuine consultancy.
  • If you are cheated, the MEA lists the Protector General of Emigrants, the Indian Embassy, the MADAD portal and the OWRC as places to complain.

About Salaries

We do not publish salary ranges in this article because no official source gives reliable pay figures by job, and the numbers on other websites vary widely. Compare several current job advertisements for your role, and make sure your offer letter states the basic salary, allowances, accommodation, transport and medical insurance clearly before you accept.
